Two opticians, Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet, started Theo with fresh, cutting-edge ideas. They built a following with niche group of young, progressive and daring eyeglass wearers. As they became known for their experimental, unconventional looks, they pushed the boundaries of what's possible in eyewear.
Their eyeglasses and sunglasses appeal to artistic types looking to express their inner creativity. The avant garde like them because they're exceptionally unique. Their shockingly bold colors and razor sharp angles stand out. Their stamped metal frames and their curved, unconventional silhouettes are not for the shy. Fading into the background is not an option when you wear these.
Somers and Hoet take their cues from architecture and nature. Their frames are inspired by beauty found in unexpected things around them. The fluid lines of a racing helmet inspired one of their most unique styles of sunglasses.
Every frame is handmade in Antwerp, Belgium from optical grade materials, including brightly colored metals. From futuristic shapes with contrasting lattice overlays to completely unexpected updates of old favorites, each pair is dramatically different from the next, to provide a wide variety of looks you'd only expect to find on the high fashion catwalks of Europe.
As edgy as they look, each pair is made to be comfortable. Flexible hinges and adjustable nose pieces help provide a custom fit. Flat temples curve gently around the ear and along the head without digging in.
