FAQ's

1.What are polarized lenses? Do I need polarized sunglasses?

Polarized lenses reduce glare from surfaces such as the water, snow, ice, cars, etc. Polarized lenses are ideal for people who drive, are around water or snow, or are frequently outdoors.

You don't need a pair of polarized sunglasses, but, after you wear one, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

2.Do all sunglasses have 100% UV protection?

All sunglasses sold on eoptics.com are 100% UVA and UVB protected. It is important to protect your eyes and the sensitive skin around your eyes from the possibly cancerous aging and burning rays of the sun.

3.What is the difference among the different sunglass tints?

Grey lenses tend to darken your surroundings while keeping true colors. This tint is good for use in bright sunlight and is ideal for people with light sensitive eyes.

Brown/ Amber lenses heighten contrast and make colors appear more vibrant. Because it heightens contrast, this tint is a good all around lens (even if it gets a little cloudy outside) and is ideal for activities such as golf and tennis.

Here is a list of activities and the lens colors that work best for them:

  • Baseball -- Polarized lenses û grey or green
  • Cycling -- Polarized lenses û grey, green, or brown
  • Driving -- Polarized lenses û grey or brown
  • Fishing -- Polarized lenses û amber, brown, or grey
  • Flying -- Non-polarized lenses û brown or grey
  • Golf -- Polarized lenses û brown
  • Motorcycling -- Polarized lenses û grey, brown, or green
  • Shooting -- Yellow lenses
  • Skiing -- Amber, brown, or grey depending on the light conditions
  • Tennis -- Polarized lenses û yellow or orange
  • Watersports -- Polarized lenses û amber, brown, or grey
  • Any other outdoor activity -- Polarized lenses
4.What do the numbers/eyesizes mean?

Most eyewear frames and some sunglass frames have sizes on them. The sizes consist of two or three sets of numbers something similar to this:

52-16 -140

52 is the width of the lens in millimeters

16 is the width of the bridge in millimeters

140 is the length of the temple in millimeters

When picking out eyeglass frames, a good rule of thumb is to pick something that is a similar size to what you are currently wearing.

5.What is a PD? How do I find it?

A PD (pupillary distance) is the distance between the center of your pupils (binocular) or the distance between the center of your nose to the center of your pupil (monocular). It is often written in millimeters. We need this measurement in order to put the optical center of the prescription lens directly over your pupil so that you can see clearly. Most optical stores will measure your PD for you for free. You can also have your eye doctor measure your PD.

6.How long does it take to complete an order?

A regular nonprescription sunglass order will be shipped within two business days of order processing

Depending on the company an authentic prescription sunglass or eyeglass order will be shipped anywhere from two to four business weeks after the prescription is verified. Many companies have a two week turnaround time on authentic prescription products.

Special orders will be shipped anytime from a few days to several weeks depending upon the availability of the frame

7.What if you don't have what I want? Can I special order a frame or sunglass?

Yes, we do special orders. Keep in mind, there are no refunds or exchanges on any special order products.

8.What is the warranty policy?

Most frames have a one year manufacturer defect warranty. The warranty does not cover damage inflicted by the user. In other words, if you sit on your eyewear, run over your eyewear with a car, drop your eyewear off of a tall building or if your dog chews your eyewear, toddler rips your eyewear apart, elephant tramples your eyewear, or any other number of mundane occurrences happens to your eyewear, it will not be covered under the warranty. Also, there is no warranty for lost eyewear. The best way to protect your eyewear when it is not on your face is to keep it in a hard case with your name and contact information written on the inside.

12.How do I pick a frame shape for my face?

In general, shapes that contrast your face shape are most flattering. If your face is very round, rectangular shapes will look good. If your face is square, rounder shapes will look good.

13.What if I can't see out of my glasses?

We triple check every single pair of sunglasses and glasses before we send them to you, but we recognize that sometimes people do not adjust to their new prescriptions.

Sometimes it takes up to two weeks for your brain to adjust to a new prescription or a new lens curve (this is especially true in wrapped sunglass frames).

However, please feel free to contact us so that we may offer suggestions or alternatives.

14.Are you certified opticians?

Yes, we are certified opticians with many years of experience. We are on hand during business hours to answer questions and look over prescriptions and frame choices. If the frame you have chosen does not work with your prescription, we will be able to offer alternatives.
