Why are the Big Sunglasses Manufacturers Going Digital with their Rx Lenses?

Now that we’re officially into 2012, you may have noticed some significant price increases by a couple of your favorite sunglasses manufacturers, in their Rx lenses (specifically Maui Jim and Oakley). What caused the price change? The main reason the prices jumped so significantly is that neither Maui Jim nor Oakley are making traditionally surfaced Rx lenses anymore.
