Alert! Alert! Europtics, Inc., in Denver, Colorado, has a trunk show this weekend. Which line will be showcased? L.A. Eyeworks! L.A. Eyeworks has some of the coolest (and sometimes funkiest) frames around, and they are also a very cool company. Today I’d like to tell you all about a chic Lafont frame: the Allure. Now, beyond the fact that I love the name, this is a gorgeous frame. The Allure is a retro shaped frame, fit for both men and women. It is medium sized, so it fits many different faces. The shape of the Allure is Read the rest of this entry »

I have exciting news today: Europtics is having a weekend-long trunk show, showcasing Leisure Society and Paul Frank eyewear! These 2 brands are an interesting dichotomy, and appeal to many different people. Leisure Society was created to be “heirloom” eyewear; frames you’ll want to pass down to your children (and, frames they’ll actually want!). I know I wrote about Retrospecs before (last May, to be more exact), but they’ve come out with quite a few new eyeglass frames since then, and I really wanted to let everyone know. If you’re looking for a vintage frame, and not simply a “retro look,” then Retrospecs is the company for you. Retrospecs refurbishes eyewear from the 20s-70s…back when glasses were made by jewelers. The vast majority of the metal frames are gold filled, and the quality is tremendous. They now have quite a large selection of zyl frames as well. These frames have to go through an intense conditioning process to rehydrate them, and bring them back to their original beauty. They have exceptional horn pieces, which use hinges and styles from vintage frames. Not only does Retrospecs refurbish regular eyeglasses, but they also have sunglasses! They’ve been finding some amazing pieces; from the very original Raybans, to 70’s metal pilots and plastic sunnies. Their selection just keeps on growing.
Another very cool thing about Retrospecs is they can refurbish your vintage eyewear, too! You can always call us up, and we’ll send your glasses to Retrospecs. They’ll be able to let you know if the glasses are worth salvaging, and what they can do for you. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind frame, Retrospecs is the way to go!
Since retro frames are still very much in vogue, I wanted to take some time today to write about the Salt Adler eyeglasses. The Adler is a little reminiscent of the mens glasses from the 50’s and 60’s. It’s a rounded square Read the rest of this entry »
