Now that we’re officially into 2012, you may have noticed some significant price increases by a couple of your favorite sunglasses manufacturers, in their Rx lenses (specifically Maui Jim and Oakley). What caused the price change? The main reason the prices jumped so significantly is that neither Maui Jim nor Oakley are making traditionally surfaced Rx lenses anymore. With the success of Tron 3D, and 3D movies in general, I felt it was time to once again talk about 3D glasses. There are a few companies currently making 3D glasses, and a couple making clips to fit over your Rx glasses. Most of the high end 3D glasses being made today are for the movie screens, rather than the 3D TVs.
I’ve been speaking about sunglasses with Dan at our Europtics Greenwood Village store, and his favorites for the summer are the Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ sports sunglasses. He likes the snug fit and loves Oakley’s lenses. Dan says the Flak Jacket XLJ offers good coverage and he enjoys the lightweight feel.
