Since I just wrote about Maui Jim’s other Reading Sunglasses, the Ho’okipa, I felt it only fair that I should talk about the smaller Reading Sunglasses, the Makaha sunglasses. The Maui Jim Makaha sunglasses fit smaller faces, and work well on more petite women. They still have the polarization and are fully Read the rest of this entry »

Since summer is still here, and it’s still awfully bright out, I thought it was time (or past time) to be talking about Maui Jim’s line of reading sunglasses. The Ho’okipa is the larger of the 2 styles Maui Jim uses for their reading sunglasses. They’re also (of course) polarized, as is everything in Maui Jim’s line-up. The Ho’okipa comes in 3 powers: +1.50, +2.00 and +2.50, and these will fit Read the rest of this entry »

Now that we’re fairly squarely into sunglass season, I wanted to talk about some really cool sunglasses from Maui Jim.

As you may already know, Maui Jim only makes polarized lenses. They’re great for blocking glare, and some of the most comfortable lenses out there. They are bad for pilots, however, because of the polarization.

Maui Jim makes a line of drilled rimless sunglasses with beta titanium frames. The largest is the Ka’anapali, and it fits larger heads very well. The beta titanium temples are hingeless, so they gently grip the sides of your head, and stay in place very well. They’re the lightest glasses you can wear, and have a nice 8 base wrap to protect your eyes from the sun all the way around. The shape is a modified aviator, and follows the lines of your cheekbones well, to give you as much protection as possible.

These sunglasses truly are a wonderful addition to any summer wardrobe.

We are running trunk shows in all 4 of our locations this weekend, with 4 different sunglasses lines. Each line will spend one day at each of our stores, from Thursday through Sunday (only 3 days at our Greenwood Village store, since they’re not open on Sundays).

We are featuring Maui Jim at our Flat Irons store on Thursday, Greenwood Village on Friday, Park Meadows on Saturday, and Cherry Creek on Sunday.

Reptile (see my last post) will be at our Greenwood Village Store Thursday, Park Meadows Friday, Cherry Creek Saturday, and Flat Irons Sunday.

Switch Vision, a very cool new idea in sunwear, will be showing at our Park Meadows location on Thursday, Cherry Creek location on Friday, and Flat Irons on Saturday.

Rudy Project will be showing their line at Cherry Creek on Thursday, Flat Irons Friday, Greenwood Village Saturday and Park Meadows Sunday.

Come check out these great lines at the trunk shows. There’s no better way to see the entire collection, and get information directly from the horse’s mouth. When you come by, let us get your picture in your favorite new sunglasses!

Effective April 1st Maui Jim will no longer be offering glass lenses through it’s authentic Maui Jim prescription sunglasses program. The Thin Glass Lens that Maui Jim has offered from it’s beginning is a cornerstone of the companies plano sunglass line. The company however feels it is no longer appropriate in it’s RX program.

Maui Jim says that consumers today are demanding lighter, thinner and more impact resistant RX lenses and the Maui Evolution material can deliver these benefits better than glass.

Maui Evolution is available in Read the rest of this entry »
