I was speaking with Mason at our Flat Irons Europtics store about his newest glasses. He is very excited to finally have a pair of acetate glasses. He’s really enjoying his Pro Design 1675 eyeglasses. Mason has a wide bridge, and has never been able to find a pair of acetate eyeglass frames he could comfortably wear. These Pro Designs fit the bill, though. He also really likes the fact that you can order them with nosepads, in case you don’t have a large nose like he does. Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve been speaking with Pete up at our Flat Irons Europtics store, and his favorite frame is the Lafont Again. He likes the retro styling and quality of the Again. When you put it on, you can feel the difference. The Again just feels comfortable, all day long, just like a good pair of shoes. It’s a little bit funky, but not over the top. Even though it’s retro (or, perhaps because of it), it has a stylish look.

When you look at these frames, you can definitely see where the vision for the Again came from. If you watch Mad Men, or go even further back, perhaps to the 50′s, you’ll see versions of this eyeglass frame on so many men’s faces. The acetate and metal mix is another great pairing for these. If you like your glasses to get noticed, this is a great frame for you!

I spoke with Azra about her “Sunglass of the Moment” and today’s happens to be the Vera Wang V200. Not a glamorous name, but it is a glamorous frame. Azra likes this frame because it’s chunky and give great sun protection. The acetate frames are more popular for sunglasses, specifically for that reason. Big is in, but the Vera Wang V200 isn’t huge. It fits petite faces well, and has thicker temples to block the sun from the sides. It fits prescriptions well; both progressives and/or bifocals, and single vision. Azra says this frame is fashionable, yet just a little bit sporty, with the protection on the sides.

Vera Wang takes great care in the glasses and sunglasses she authorizes. She goes over the details herself, and takes a hand in the designing. For her, it’s more than just a way to make money. She wants to make sure her style shines through in her products. They’re very feminine, and beautiful, just like Vera Wang, herself.
