Last week, I wrote about Gunnar Computer Glasses, which are made specifically for computer work, video games, and television. This week, I would like to write about a different type of computer lenses. These are prescription lenses, and they’re made for people who have a reading prescription, or an Rx for distance and reading. These computer glasses give you a much wider field of view for the computer and reading than a traditional Progressive lens does. They are made by a few companies, but my favorite companies are Shamir and Zeiss. Shamir makes the Office and Autograph Office lenses. They are designed to give you about 10-15 feet of distance vision through the top of the eyeglass frames, and have a wide area for your computer and your reading. Zeiss makes the RD, which is quite similar to the Office, but gives about 8-10 feet of distance vision, and the Business. The Business lenses only give about 3-5 feet of distance vision, but have the widest area for computer and reading. The Office and RD are good for people who work at their computers all day, but do other things around the office, as well. The Ho’okipa is the larger of the 2 styles Maui Jim uses for their reading sunglasses. They’re also (of course) polarized, as is everything in Maui Jim’s line-up. The Ho’okipa comes in 3 powers: +1.50, +2.00 and +2.50, and these will fit Read the rest of this entry »

The computer use is ingenious and very helpful. Because of the slight prescription they’ve put in the glasses, it makes it much more comfortable for your eyes, when you spend hours at your computer. Today, I want to talk about one of my all time favorite frames: the Theo Eyewitness OD glasses. I’ve had these glasses for a couple years now, and I still get more compliments on them than on any other frame I own. They are a deep purple and silver color, and go with almost everything. They are also titanium, and extremely lightweight. Read the rest of this entry »
