I’ve been speaking about sunglasses with Dan at our Europtics Greenwood Village store, and his favorites for the summer are the Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ sports sunglasses. He likes the snug fit and loves Oakley’s lenses. Dan says the Flak Jacket XLJ offers good coverage and he enjoys the lightweight feel. They’re great for most sports, from hiking and biking to skiing in the winter. Read the rest of this entry »

I was speaking with Mason at our Flat Irons Europtics store about his newest glasses. He is very excited to finally have a pair of acetate glasses. He’s really enjoying his Pro Design 1675 eyeglasses. Mason has a wide bridge, and has never been able to find a pair of acetate eyeglass frames he could comfortably wear. These Pro Designs fit the bill, though. He also really likes the fact that you can order them with nosepads, in case you don’t have a large nose like he does. Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve been speaking with Pete up at our Flat Irons Europtics store, and his favorite frame is the Lafont Again. He likes the retro styling and quality of the Again. When you put it on, you can feel the difference. The Again just feels comfortable, all day long, just like a good pair of shoes. It’s a little bit funky, but not over the top. Even though it’s retro (or, perhaps because of it), it has a stylish look.

When you look at these frames, you can definitely see where the vision for the Again came from. If you watch Mad Men, or go even further back, perhaps to the 50’s, you’ll see versions of this eyeglass frame on so many men’s faces. The acetate and metal mix is another great pairing for these. If you like your glasses to get noticed, this is a great frame for you!

Sarah turned me on to a pretty cool Lafont frame today. She works up at our Flat Iron location, and really likes the Lafont Claire. She likes the Claire because it fits so many women well, and is large enough for a progressive lens or bifocals, if you wear them.

The Lafont Claire is a soft rectangular frame, and has a beautiful arch to the top line, which emphasizes a feminine brow. The temples are in contrasting colors to the front, to add style. They also have a raised, geometric design which adds a lot of interest, and just makes them very touchable. The colors are soft and easy to wear with any part of your wardrobe.

The Claire is a metal frame, and feels lightweight on your face. The nosepads are adjustable, so the frame will fit well, no matter what your bridge is like.

Lafont is a French company, and really pays attention to style, as well as quality. Their frames are beautiful to look at, and even better to wear. Don’t pass this one by!

I spoke with Dan at our Greenwood Village Europtics store, and his favorite eyeglasses frame today is the Freudenhaus Retro 1. This is an acetate frame that compliments both men and women. His favorite color is the Havana, and he likes it because it’s not a feminine tortoise. This particular tortoise runs more toward the yellow/brown spectrum, rather than the red/amber. The Retro 1 is  a soft square, and fits very comfortably on the bridge of your nose. Dan always likes them because they’re well constructed. He says you can feel the quality when you put them on. They’re solid and sturdy, and will hold up for years to come.

Freudenhaus is a German company, and they make acetate and titanium frames. They use only the best quality materials, and skilled craftspeople. They are a small, independent company, and are very conscious of where their glasses are sold. They make sure that only knowledgeable stores and opticians carry them.
